Board Chair
Kristin Bolken
I have always felt a strong pull to be part of the solution. Serving on the VSVV board is a natural extension of my work. I am passionate about strengthening nonprofits by improving volunteer engagement systems and building organizational capacity. My goal is to help create a strong, sustainable foundation that supports long-term community impact.
Personal HIstory: My career began in social work, supporting at-risk youth experiencing homelessness and foster care, where I learned to navigate complex systems and advocate for those who need support most. Over time, I recognized that my strengths extended beyond direct service into helping organizations grow and sustain their impact.
I transitioned into nonprofit leadership, serving as both Development Director and Executive Director across organizations ranging from grassroots startups to national nonprofits. My work has focused on building fundraising infrastructure, securing major grants, leading capital campaigns, and guiding organizations through critical growth phases.
Today, as the owner of The Local Sedona, I am creating a community gathering place—a “third place” where people can connect and feel a sense of belonging. As part of that commitment, I donate 1% of monthly net profits to Volunteer Sedona & the Verde Valley.
Outside of my work, I enjoy cooking, gardening, and time spent with my rescued puppy and close friends.
Board Secretary
Jenni Garrett
My nonprofit leadership perspective was shaped early through nonprofit experience, where I saw how relationships and shared purpose drive real impact. It’s what inspired me to join Volunteer Sedona & the Verde Valley. I was drawn to the vision of creating a simple, accessible way for people to engage in service and strengthen community connection.
I also serve with the Verde Valley Rotary Club, supporting youth leadership development. As a board member, I see my role as both a connector and a learner—building relationships while deepening my understanding of nonprofit sustainability, particularly on the financial side.
Personal: I am the owner of Dragonfly LLC, where I specialize in project management, supporting a range of clients and initiatives. My career began managing IT projects for large organizations, coordinating teams across the country. While the work was efficient, it lacked connection—something I’ve come to see as essential to meaningful progress. Over time, I recognized that my strength lies not just in managing projects, but in helping people connect to the steps and purpose behind their work.
After 20 years in Phoenix, my son and I recently moved to the Verde Valley, embracing a more connected way of life. I believe that small, intentional steps lead to meaningful impact—and that what we do truly makes a difference.
Board Treasurer
Lindsay Sacks
I was involved with Volunteer Sedona & the Verde Valley in its early stages and saw the potential to create a centralized, accessible platform for service. Joining the board was a natural next step.
Volunteering is how I found belonging when I first arrived in Sedona. That experience shapes my belief that making it easy to give back strengthens both individuals and communities.
As a board member, I focus on building partnerships—especially within tourism—to turn visitor presence into meaningful impact. My goal is to help scale this model, expanding its reach and deepening its impact across communities.
Personal History: I am a real estate professional based in Sedona, focused on connecting people to community. My career began in accounting and finance, spending nearly a decade with a leading firm across Silicon Valley, Hawaii, and San Diego, auditing a wide range of organizations—including many nonprofits. I later served as a corporate controller and foundation treasurer supporting children’s charities, and held board roles with several nonprofit organizations.
