International Hummingbird Society

Organization Overview

Since 1996, the International Hummingbird Society has been dedicated to helping hummingbirds by educating

people about them and working internationally to protect them. Through our work, we strive to inspire people to

learn more about hummingbirds, understand the threats to their conservation, and take action to protect them.

Specifically, we:

● Seek out, assess, and fund conservation projects focused on critically endangered hummingbird

species.

● Educate and raise awareness about hummingbirds through our website, local presentations, written

materials, call center, and Sedona Hummingbird Festival.

● Expand habitat by encouraging gardening for hummers through our Certified Hummingbird Haven

program.

● Increase understanding of population trends through our local hummingbird banding and monitoring

projects.

● Celebrate hummingbirds at our annual Sedona Hummingbird Festival.
